Softies was a rescue — grey, particular, and mine in a way I never expected another creature to be. She didn't warm up to just anyone. I was the only person she really loved, and she made sure I knew it: every time I came home, she'd climb onto my chest and start up her little motor, purring like she'd been waiting the whole time.
I called her my soulmate. I still do.

Softies is gone now, and I miss her more than I know how to say. EverPaws started in the middle of that missing — not from some big plan, just from wanting to hold onto pieces of what we had in small, everyday ways. A mug you actually use.
